I think thats industries really just choose to go along with the government and only think about the monetry value of anything.
Most industries just dismiss the fact that they greatly pollute the environment, be in from emissions, waste of resources or just plainly destroying land. Industries worry greatly about profits as this is their purpose. Their purpose is not to keep the environment healthy, so they strive to full fill their purpose regardless of the cost on the environment.
They choose to justify this by counting the 'benefits' of industry. The money in society, the products they create for our use, the 'jobs' that they provide the community, yet they fail to realise that one day if global warming takes charge there will be no more industry anyway, no money, no product and no jobs.
Some companies and industries however have begun to choose a more environmentally friendly way of operation. Utilizing less chemicals, less resourses and using recycled products. This is the begining of a path in the right direction.
